How does an etailer verify my credit card?

When I purchase online and submit a credit card number, expiry, and CSV code, the etailer will put a pending transaction on my card. QUESTION: When the etailer is seeking a pending approval what data fields are usually checked? Name? Address? Phone? Zip?|||One of the more common way on-line business' verify credit card payments is by asking for the panel code. It's the 3 or 4 digit number on the back of your card by the signature panel.

If a retailer has all of the card info along with the panel code they assume only the card holder would have that info and approve the transaction.|||I would think that any and all information that you would give them.|||Name and address are verified.
