Credit Card?

I'm a college student who already has a VISA card with Comerica bank, but I just received a VISA card offer from Capital One.

I don't see the point in owning two VISA credit cards.

Should I change to Cap. One?

(Paying back credit line has never been a problem)|||Well, a question you have to ask yourself is how long have you been with your current Visa card? The longer you have a card will usually increase your credit score.

One reason my wife and i changed cards last year was the incentives... Some gas stations offer up to 5% back on gas purchases and 1% on everything else. IN the past year, we have gotten over 800 dollars BACK! My other card had no incentives. its still active because i have had it for 10 years now, and its only used in extreme emergencies or if for some reason the other card cannot be used.

A final thought would be the interest./apr rates... How do they compare? If you carry a balance, obviously the lower rate would be best to save you money.|||You can visit http://www.debteraserzone.com and find very useful tips and several articles on credit card related matters.

|||Only change if you're getting a lower fixed interest rate. Don't forget to look at yearly fees.|||Don't get it. If you can get rid of the first credit card and just pay cash for the things you need you'll be much better off in the long run.

I wish I'd listen to that advice when I was in college.|||capital one will **** you up the ***...

we just made our way through 4 years of paying off credit card debt, and being dirt poor because of it. dont be sucked into the debt game, its what money was originally made for, read it on the dollar. stick with what you got and play it safe..|||NO! I have never owned a Capital One Visa, but I have heard nothing but horror stories about their use. It is beneficial when building credit to keep your oldest account open. I would continue with the good payment habits you indicate with your Comerica Visa.

Capital One has a reputation in the credit industry for extending very low credit limits, then charging massive over limit fees plus excessive interest. Some cardholders report having up to 6 Capital One Cards with a cycle of carrying balance on one card to another.

http://articles.moneycentral.msn.com/Ban鈥?/a>|||Really no reason to switch unless you are getting a better rate. But heres the catch. If you switch and close out the old one you can actually hurt yourself as far as credit score goes. Because the score will take into consideration your oldest account which if you close the first one will then be the second.

Read the fine print on the capital one card also. If they are offering a lower rate there may be a catch. Like it is for balance transfers only or it is for x amount of months. A lot of people have gotten caught in the trap of wow it is a lower rate only to find later that it was more of a gimmick.

Best bet take the capital one card and keep the other. Just use it sparingly and keep the credit good. It will only pay off for your future.
